A Decade of Reach, A New Look for What’s Next

Team

Reach was founded in 2015 on the belief that technology can help people live better lives. From a child’s first moments, through education and healthcare, to work and opportunities that support economic mobility and well-being, our investments focus on elevating human potential and igniting purpose. When people are equipped to grow their skills, nurture relationships, stay healthy, and find meaning in what they do, communities thrive.

One decade, four funds, and over 100 investments later, that premise has borne fruit through the hard work of the mission-driven founders we’ve been blessed to work with. Their companies are connecting schools and homes into vibrant learning communities, improving access to healthcare, creating pathways to rewarding jobs, and widening the circle of opportunity so that millions of students, families, and workers can learn, earn, and live with more dignity and choice.

Over the past 10 years, as our portfolio has grown, so have our team and our work. Today, we’re delighted to share our new logo and visual identity with the world. It’s a new look that captures our momentum and ambition for what’s ahead, while staying true to what’s never changed: investing with heart, championing founders, and widening access to opportunity for all.

Our New Visual Identity

Wordmark Logo: The cornerstone of our visual identity, our wordmark represents Reach’s values and character: investing with heart, humanity, and authenticity. It is derived from a humanist typeface, Mestiza Sans by Lechuga Type, and features organic curves, softened terminals, and references to calligraphic gesture. The subtle serifs allude to mark-making by pen or ink, representing craftsmanship while remaining undeniably contemporary

These details reflect the care that we bring to our work. Early-stage investing is as much art as science, and our entire team works closely to help founders transform the first sketches of ideas into fully realized, far-reaching tools.

We’re investors first and foremost. But our diverse backgrounds as former founders, operators, educators, designers, and writers bring a distinctly “liberal arts” approach to supporting founders more comprehensively and creatively. From convening community, sharpening product and design, and accelerating hiring, marketing, and sales, our many forms of portfolio support blend craft with rigor.

Reach icon

Icon: Our icon is a monogram derived from the first two letters in our name. It unfolds into a blooming tulip, a symbol of our commitment to growth: in the founders and teams we back, the people they serve and impact, and within our own team.

Seen another way, it also resembles a welcoming wave, a quiet invitation that sits at the heart of Reach.

That simple hello then becomes a shared journey. One of the best parts of our job is growing alongside our founders and building community with operators, entrepreneurs, and others who share our mission. We’re honored that many founders return to us for their next companies — and that many also entrust us to find and support future generations of builders through supporting our Founders Fund, a sidecar investment vehicle specifically for our founders.

Along with our new logo, we’ve also updated other visual elements of our brand, including:

  • A more vibrant, electric Reach Blue that reflects today’s entrepreneurial energy, powered by AI and other frontier technologies.
  • New typefaces that balance our personable tone with professional polish, echoing the organic, human mark-making behind our craft.
  • Formalized editorial guidelines for clear, fact-forward communication: curious, rigorous, and warmly human.

To the Next Decade — and Beyond

Like our new electric blue, we’re energized by what’s ahead. As AI and other frontier technologies reshape learning, health, and work, we’ll continue to invest in the best and boldest solutions that expand access, lower costs, and improve outcomes — and keep partnering closely with the founders building them.

While change is a constant, and so are the principles that guide us. As we look ahead, we’re anchored by the values that got us here:

  • Never forget your first believers. When Reach started, capital was scarce, particularly for a fund that was then focused on edtech. We were lucky to be mentored by some of the most innovative founders and investors in Silicon Valley, including Brook Byers, Steve Blank, John Doerr, Scott Cook, Joe Gleberman, Ray Dalio, Margit Pearson, Sesame Ventures, and the team at Emerson Collective. Their kindness and pay-it-forward approach has left an imprint on our team’s values.
  • Always work in service of our founders. With capital in short supply, we made portfolio support our north star. Every new hire followed a simple rule of thumb: prioritize our founders’ needs. We built and learned alongside them, from first hires to product pivots, and rolled up our sleeves to help teams raise capital. We are tightly connected to many of our founders today.
  • Never stop learning. From the beginning, we’ve kept ahead of cutting-edge research that has fueled innovation and transformed the world. Two of the many exited companies from our first fund in 2015 — WriteLab and Gradescope — deployed AI to enrich the lives of teachers and learners, long before LLMs. A third portfolio company — Replit — is now the leading AI pioneer enabling anyone to create software and businesses.
  • Champion the Underdog: Technology dissolves physical boundaries that all too often constrain opportunity and economic mobility. We seek out tools that create opportunities for those left behind and help remedy systemic inequities.
