Wayee Chu
Wayee was born in Queens, New York and raised in Connecticut by Chinese parents who immigrated to the US to pursue education, an upbringing that influenced and shaped her own education, early career path, and commitment to closing the achievement gap in education. In 2005, she moved to California and began her journey with NewSchools Venture Fund, working alongside Jennifer Carolan, Shauntel Garvey and Esteban Sosnik, where she discovered her passion for entrepreneurship and technology. That foundational experience led her to Reach Capital, where she now channels her energy to empowering early-stage founders who are transforming how we learn, work and live. For Wayee, working in venture is deeply humbling yet incredibly inspiring; the rare chance to back ambitious founders shaping a different future is both a privilege and one of the greatest rewards.
